  1. COURSE:  The Wheel and Hub Golf Club
  2.  
  3. JNSE
  4. DESIGN:  Raymond Beck and Gordon Chisholm
  5.  
  6. LOCATION: South central US in the rolling hill country
  7. between the Ozarks and the Mississippi River bottoms near
  8. the Missouri-Arkansas border.
  9.  
  10. ORIGIN:  Fictional; bearing no resemblance to any actual
  11. course.
  12.  
  13.      After Reindeer Lake (REINDEER.ZIP) turned out so well,
  14. (at least Ray and I thought it did) I decided it would be
  15. nice to work with Ray again, and The Wheel and Hub Golf Club
  16. began to take shape.
  17.      I selected the land plot, added the creeks and lakes,
  18. did the basic elevation work on the plot, laid out the holes,
  19. selected the objects, and sent our new creation to Ray.
  20.      Ray did the landscaping on all holes but 15 and 18,
  21. added the objects after changing some of them, including
  22. adding a clubhouse, and sent it back to me for the completion
  23. of #15 and #18. After completing the last two holes(#15 and
  24. #18), it went back to Ray for additional fine tuning and
  25. tweaking where needed.
  26.      Next, the course came back to me for selection of water
  27. color, sand color, final location of hole signs, and checking
  28. the greens to eliminate any unfair breaks.
  29.      Water color came from Reindeer Lake(what can I say? I
  30. like it!). The color of the sand was taken from Sunningdale
  31. (SUNNING.ZIP), and the objects were "borrowed" from other
  32. courses(which one I don't remember; I lost my list).I wish at
  33. this time to include a blanket "Thank You" to all designers
  34. whose objects appear on The Wheel and Hub. It would look
  35. awfully barren without you guys, and your talent.
  36.      For anyone interested, there is also a version of The
  37. Wheel and Hub in my Library using the sand color from Bob
  38. Polin's Estate Heights. Compared the two for about three days
  39. and Sunningdale won. Sorry about that Bob.
  40.      With Sunningdale's sand color it was necessary to make a
  41. few cosmetic changes to Ray's clubhouse. Seems the sand
  42. colors are also used for objects in the file.

  56.      This course is somwhat unusual in that it contains 6 par
  57. 3's, 6 par 4's, and 6 par 5's, but is not unusually long at
  58. 6671 yards, and par 72.
  59.      The sequence of holes for the back nine is identical to
  60. the front nine. This was merely a chance occurence to keep
  61. any 2 of the par 5's from being grouped together.
  62.      The front nine plays at 3261 yards, and the back nine at
  63. 3410 yards.
